Check out the Funk Hunters repping the hood in the latest BEATROUTE issue.
“For people living in B.C., the name Funk Hunters has become synonymous with summer festivals, fun times and an encyclopaedic approach to remixes. This fall the duo, comprised of Duncan Smith and Nick Middleton, will take their high energy DJ set across Western Canada and as far east as Winnipeg. Taking the backbone of funk and breaks, and adding layers of samples from the worlds of classic rock, hip-hop and beyond, The Funk Hunters have been honing their unique sound since the pair met in Duncan’s hometown of Galiano Island, B.C.
“I wasn’t able to find anything outside of mainstream music at that time ’cause there were no record stores (on Galiano) and I wasn’t too savvy on the Internet,” Duncan explained. “So I got introduced to this whole other world of music and then we bought some CDJs and basically started DJing parties on the island every weekend, and we’d load our gear onto beaches for, like, 40 people and just party ’til the sun came up.””

You must know what these words mean. If you don’t and see someone wearing one of the t-shirts, go up and ask them.
Hint: it’s about bringing community together!

While OccupyVancouver is facing a drug overdose, a death and the forthcoming closure of the VAG site, protestors at OccupyOakland are reaffirming their solidarity with these Guy Fawkes masks designed by Matthew Borgatti “that can be worn as a full or half face mask, and are printed with safe sane protesting advice about dealing with police, sharing your location, who to call in the event of legal troubles.” Borgatti also adds, “I want people to be able to protest with OWS without the risk of being fired for showing solidarity.”
Eastvan is for the children. Thought I told you before.
