On January 8th, street photographer Stephen Goodman made a special visit to Gastown Tattoo [105 W. Cordova St]. His outer forearm would be emblazoned with the word “Eastvan,” a dedication to the hood that continues to inspire him. Watch the brisk evening of ink, blood and animal skulls below.
Tattoo by Ashley Doherty of Gastown Tattoo Parlour.
Eastvan script design by Rob Geary of Welcome To Eastvan.
Music provided by Mike Decline. Look out for his upcoming release Calmmunicate coming this January 27th, 2012 on Phonographique.
The Globe & Mail wrote a great piece today on the injustice that is facing The RIO Theatre in Eastvan. Here are the basics:
- Owner Corinne Lea and The RIO have been fighting for a liquor license for months now.
- This past Wednesday, they were finally awarded a license for adult-only live events, eg. concerts.
- On Thursday, the B.C. Liquor Control & Licensing Branch pulled a bitch move saying that, as a theatre that serves alcohol, they are no longer allowed to show movies.
- That’s right, smell the bullshit.
- Fans and supporters can do their part below.
