As part of an ongoing series entitled, “A Stranger A Week,” author Marianela Ramos Capelo writes:
I came by for breakfast food at 5pm (because why wouldn’t you?) to the epic $3 all-day/day-after breakfast place. Sitting on a table nearby were a couple of guys, and one of them had lots of ink showing. While I waited for my food, I decided to go up to them and tell them about the project. And guess which tattoo he shared?
“Well, maybe I can tell you about this one since is very topical ‘cos we’re here. I really dislike the stories behind significant tattoos. You know, there is always the ‘it was for my dad’ or whatever, but it is always some lame… I don’t know, it always disappoints me. So the reason for this one is that I like Bon‘s.
My buddy and I each got one. We’ve been coming here for years and we always enjoy the cheap food, and also I’m a big fan of East Van, and this is an East Van ‘place’ so yeah, this is where we grew up, where we eat. It’s definitely of significance within us and our people as it is a very recognizable area. And everyone knows Bon’s, so they see this and they say ‘OH MY GOD IS BON’S!!!’, you know?
So yes, I have a lot of skin to fill so I can’t have a reason behind everything (every tattoo), and the ones that have a reason now make me think ‘why did I get that?!’ haha. I think the ones that look cool and/or are funny are the best ones. So that’s that.”
They were both super chill guys. I took the picture and soon enough my food was ready, so I thanked them, shared the blog and went to eat bacon.

As always, please send in your Eastvan tattoos! I’d love to feature them!
I’m thinking about starting a new series…WHAT IF? It’ll be a anecdotal look at all the things that could have happened to our ever changing city and community.
What if Gregor Robertson wasn’t elected mayor?
What if the Canucks won the Stanely Cup?
What if Werd was born in Westvan?
Hahah, anyways I spotted these 3D rendered pics of the Eastvan Cross over at Graham Barron’s site.
An amazing architect and designer, you can check out more of his work HERE!

Another collaboration between e.d.g.e. and producer Sinitus Tempo…
For “Roses & Razors”, Sinitus Tempo samples the Japanese anime “Honey & Clover”.

I know this dropped yesterday as promised by the Goodlife team but it’s shamefully taken me until today to get on the comp. Yay or nay to me blogging full time. Horses need not answer.

The Mad Bloggers present Vancity MC/Producer Jeff Spec in a series of covers and tributes leading up to his new release, “Specnology” (September 6).
Here’s Jeff:
The first one is a cover of Large Professor’s “ijuswannachill”, one of my favorite most slept on joints from the mid 90s. You’ll hear for yourself, but I remade the beat and took the rhymes in my own direction, but did my best to stay with the feel of the original. I hope you like it!

A month ago, I posted a picture from the front page of the Vancouver Sun that read: Copyright Crossfire.
The gist of it was that there was a confrontation between a former Hell’s Angel and a picture framing store owner over who had the rights to the image of the Eastvan cross. The HA member claimed that the symbol belonged to a gang that he was a part of in the early 90′s. The store owner claimed that the image of the cross he was using was the property of the City of Vancouver and therefore free to use by the public. Judging by the comments left on the photo, it seems as though the public strongly supports the latter.
that cross has been around for-fucking-ever. dont think any one should get monatry gain from it. not even Lum
they didnt invent, and they can’t protect it. HA, ha no way.

Seriously, do you? Check out this little seafood restaurant sitting in the Indian Ocean, just off the coast of Zanzibar, Tanzania. Built on a rock, it’s named…wait for it…The Rock Restaurant.
So what happens when the tides out, you walk in for a beer and lobster which joyously turns into 12 beers and 17 lobsters and then the tide comes in? I really really wanna know!
